8143. Eggan, O P. April 6, 1908, (Convention date]. Screw propellers.-The boss A, fitted at its forward end with a socket B, has a rear tapered end a. Helical blades C extend in the direction of the length of the boss, and increase in width from their forward ends to points near their rear ends. Each blade has an inner portion c, integral with the boss, and a renewable outer portion d. The tapered rear end of the boss extends beyond the rear ends of the blades, and the blades are relatively arranged to form helical channels between them. The socket is secured to the shaft by a set-screw b.
