Abstract

7558. Law, E. A., and Rogerson, W. H. March 30. Fixed-abutment type; packing drums. - Relates to rotary engines of the fixed-abutment type with pistons having outwardly-sliding vanes. A casing a, Fig. 3, is shaped to form a working-chamber within which rotates a piston drum b, fitted with outwardly-sliding vanes f. Close contact between the drum and the upper part of the casing is maintained by a spring- pressed packing-bar l, Fig. 4. The sides of the casing comprise disks g, which rotate with the drum. The outer ends of the vanes are secured to rods j, Figs. 1 and 4, which pass to the outside of the casing, where opposite pairs are connected to frames s, Fig. 1, which are reciprocated by links and straps actuated by fixed eccentrics c, c<3>, Fig. 4. Two ports o, p, Fig. 3, controlled by a valve m, Fig. 4, act alternatively as inlet and exhaust ports.
