5843. Jones & Campbell, Galloway, R., Samuel, J., and Johnson, R. S. March 11. Seat adjustments. -A sliding adjustment for ships' seats &c. consists of a plate a<1>, to which the upholstered seat A is secured and which has depending projections to engage with slots b<3> in a plate B, provided with depending slotted flanges b<4>. The plate B is mounted on a vertically-adjustable screwed stem locked in position in the fixed standard c' by a locking-plate c<3>. In a modification, the plate B is mounted on a plain spindle rotatable in the fixed standard. The projections are secured in position by a pinching-screw a<3> passing through the slots b<5> in the flanges b<4> and engaging threaded holes in the projections a<2>.
