4928. Mallinson, A. B. March 1. Motors, cooling and ventilating. - An electric motor 3 arranged to drive a centrifugal pump 2 is cooled by a fan 5 secured to its shaft. The air is cooled by passing over the pump casing from the inlet 12, and escapes at 13. The inlets may be covered by wire netting. The curved hub 9 of the fan prevents water from creeping along the shaft. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 17,927/03, [Class 8, Air and gases, Compressing &c.], 24,562/06, [Class 102, Pumps &c.], 9294/08, [Class 102, Pumps &c.], and 11,701/08, [Class 8, Air and gases, Compressing &c.]
