Fuel, feeding.- An artiticial density is produced in the fuel column of a gas-producer consuming s a w - dust, shavings, brushwood, timber, paper, &c. by means of a dead weight. The weight e is placed within a storage hopper b of considerable depth, and bears upon the fuel when a hook g is released ; the position of the hook indicates the fuel level.
