Abstract

1,174,543. Solid fuel. MOBIL OIL CORP. 31 Jan., 1968, No. 5026/68. Heading C5G. A smokeless and flameless solid fuel has in contact with at least a portion of its surface a combustible fibrous material, e.g. fibreboard, hardboard, paperboard or paperpulp. This material may be impregnated with an ignitable material, e.g. paraffin wax, polyterpenes, or an oil. The solid fuel is similar to that described in Specification 1,137,073, comprising petroleum coke or anthracite as the main component, and charcoal, sawdust or cotton hulls, as a minor component, and a solid oxidizing agent. Up to 15% b.w. non-swelling clay may be incorporated, and the fuel and fibrous material may be wrapped in a paper or plastic cover.
