Abstract

Fuel briquettes are made by combining under pressure the litter from poultry. The briquettes may be made by pressing or by extrusion, and may include wood shavings, sawdust or straw (e.g. from 33% to 38% by weight); a binder, e.g. pitch, tar or distillation residues thereof, or an inorganic binder; and spent mushroom compost or other humus. An inflammable material may be included, e.g. paraffin wax, which may be sprayed on the final briquette.
