Abstract
5506. Grundy, T. March 7. Wood fuel.-A fire-lighter consists of four or more sticks passing through and held in a bridge-piece a of linoleum, press paper, wood, compressed sawdust, or other substance, and dipped in a combustible mixture such as paraffin, creosote, and resin. In Fig. 2, a linoleum bridge-piece a is shown, four sticks b being held by two other sticks d acting as wedges. Shavings or the like c are placed inside, and may serve to .hold the sticks b in place instead of the wedge sticks d, the bridge-piece being like that in Fig. 2 or consisting of a piece of wood with a square hole in it. Another form, shown in Fig. 4, comprises a bridge-piece with recesses, which may be roughened, to hold the sticks b, or the bridge-piece may be arched, as shown in Fig. 4. The Provisional Specification also describes a bridge-piece with a hole for each stick.
