Incandescent gas burners.-In order that Dowson gas, generator gas, and the like may be used at a low pressure, the gas or air supply, or the gaseous mixture, is heated in known manner so that a flame temperature low in itself may be raised beyond a certain critical limit, below which no practical light emission takes place. The mixing-tube may be steam-jacketed, or the air supply may pass downwards between two chimneys.
