Abstract

2083. Mavrogordato, F. E. Jan. 28. Atmospheric vapour burners; vaporizing-apparatus.-Relates to hydrocarbon heating-apparatus, especially for domestic purposes, of the kind in which the fuel-supply regulator and the gas outlet are regulatable simultaneously. The invention consists in the needle regulator being operated internally and axially of the fuel-supply pipe. The fuel passes from a reservoir a to an injector d' by way of the pipe c and a vaporizing-tube d, which is bent into a ring and is placed under the flange of a metallic basin y. The orifice e of the injector d<1> is controlled by a needle valve f, of which the stem g is fixed to a sleeve i by a screw n. The sleeve i is provided with a key h and can turn in a support k fixed to the frame of the apparatus. The support k is made with a helicoidal slot m, which engages the screw n. The sleeve i is also made with a cam x which bears on one end of a pivoted lever u. The other end of this lever supports a rod t upon which rests the cap q of the burner. The cap q is made with vertical openings r and moves freely in the upper end of the body o, being guided by the tube s. On turning the key h to open the injector orifice e, the cap q is raised so as to utilize more of the openings r and thus maintain a regular flame. The surface of the basin y prevents the tube d from becoming too hot when the openings r, e are fully open, and when used with reduced openings the tube d is maintained at the necessary temperature. The apparatus may be used for chafing-dishes, kitchen stoves, and calorific grates.
