Abstract

Belts; inflating.-A life-belt comprises several superposed tubes a, made of fabric which is extensible in the longitudinal direction only, which are placed around the body and inflated from the lungs through inlet valves b. They are emptied through outlet valves k. The valves b are connected by a pipe f, and each valve has a screwthreaded stopper g with a conical edge seat g<2>, so that each tube can be closed when desired, the bore g<1> permitting the incoming air to pass. The outlet valves k comprise pipes connected by a tube m, in which pistons o, one for each pipe, are arranged on a rod n. All the tubes may be emptied singly or simultaneously by removing the caps u or the cap x, according to the position of the pistons.
