Abstract
28,424. Laubach, P. A. Dec. 30. Seals and sealing.-A soft - metal seal 1, in which the string 9 is embedded during sealing, is provided with a flanged washer 4 of harder material than the rest of the seal, to prevent the string from being pulled through the seal, and to prevent the seal from being bored through to release the string. The flange 5 of the washer 4 is preferably serrated, and the seal is preferably provided with one or more pins 2 over one of which the washer is passed, and which are adapted to pass through holes 3 on the upper part of the seal. The male die of the sealing-appliance, which may be provided with a raised milled edge to give great pressure at the joint of the seal, is adapted to emboss the heads of the pins 2, the female die being provided with one or more projections arranged to come under the lower ends of the pins 2 during sealing and press the same into the embossing portion of the male die. The washer 4 may be replaced by a toothed wire ring. Specification No. 28,022, A.D. 1907, is referred to.
