Abstract
6017. Winter, A. March 12. Capsule closures.-A washer 5 is placed upon the neck, and a sheet-metal capsule 1, slotted at 4, is pressed down upon it by a plunger 7. The lower port of the capsule is then indented at 8 to engage a groove in the neck and so retain the washer 5 under pressure. The top of the capsule is removed by tearing through the plain or perforated part 3<1> with a wire 11, knife, &c. The capsule may be in the form of a ring, Fig. 15, in which case it is torn vertically at 17. The neck is grooved behind the ports 3<1>, 17 to facilitate the introduction of the wire 11.
