Abstract
27,482. K³pfer, G. April 3. Self-adjusting bearings. -In a bearing for shafts &c. of the kind described in Specifications Nos. 1546 and 21,661, A.D. 1907, and No. 7411, A.D. 1908, and comprising two self-adjusting bushes supported at the apex and base of a triangle, the support at the base takes the form of a loose cylinder 51, Fig. 1, engaging grooves 50, 52 in the lower bush and in a loose block 53, capable of sliding on a plane surface of the bearing-block 2. The cylinder 51 may be replaced by two balls. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the bush rests on plane surfaces of blocks 62, which rock on hemispherical projections 60, or on balls inserted in cavities in the block 2. The bush may rest on the plane upper surfaces of two hemispherical pieces inserted in cavities in the block 2. The bearing- block 2 forms an oil reservoir, or a reservoir may be cast with or secured to the lower bush. Oil cups &c. may be loosely interposed between the bushes and the block 2, and may be suitably shaped to act as substitutes for the loose block described.
