Liquid-fuel supply; spray burners.-Apparatus for utilizing tar for heating furnaces comprises a double-jacketed vessel in which the tar is heated, and a water vessel, the ejection of the tar and water through adjacent nozzles being effected by compressed air from a reservoir fed by a bellows or the like. The tar is strained almost at boiling-point and placed in the receptacle A which is surrounded by a water bath B, heated by a lamp C and having a safetyvalve e. Alternatively, steam or hot air-from the furnace heated may be passed through the bath B to keep the -tar hot. Compressed air from a bellows G, operated by a weight H or from a pump, is conveyed to the receptacle A by a pipe E, and forces the tar through the pipe c and the nozzle d. Water, which may be heated, is similarly ejected from the receptacle D through the pipe h and the nozzle J. Dishes y, y<1> collect water and tar dripping from the nozzles. The compressed air from the bellows G or the like enters vertically-extensible bellows F through a pipe J<1> and a non-return valve m, and leaves by the outlet m<1> of the pipe, E. Rings n or the like on the bellows engage guiderods O<1> on the frame O. Combustion is started in the furnace by a small wood fire. The nozzles J, d may be arranged horizontally, vertically, or otherwise; and the compressed - air supply may be used with several receptacles. According to the Provisional Specification, the ejecting-outlets may be provided.with taps; also, the water container may be electrically heated.
