Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 8, 1905.

To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, HENRIOH 'WAsILIE- WITSCH WAGENER, a subject of the Emperor of Russia, residing at Moscow, Russia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil-Heaters, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for oil-heating.
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the apparatus; Fig. 2, a longitudinal vertical section thereof on the line A B, Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the apparatus on lines C D, Fig. 1.
The apparatus consists of a water-supply pipe a and a supply-pipeb for naphtha, which is led to aspraying-nozzle c. The firingis shut off by a platedJin which is set a fire-door 6;-
with ventilating hit-and-miss arrangementf. The ventilating hit-and-miss arrangement has in its center-an opening g'and on one side a reflector it. Within the plate cl is further furnished a small door for igniting. At the side there is secured to the plate d a steam-collectork by means of brackets. This is provided below with a draining-cock (l and at the top with a safety-valve m, which opens when the pressure becomes too great. The steam is generated in a coil-pipe n, supplied by the water-pipe a, and the steam passes from the coil-pipe into the steam-collector. The coil-pipe is protected against too great heat by a plate 8. Below this is provided .a pan 2?, which is used for igniting. The steam passes from the collector through a pipe governed by valve 0 toward the swivel-joint and through the pipe 7" into the nozzle 0. The oil to be burned comes from the pipe I) and is also led through the swivel-joint p, but separated from the steam, and through the pipe r to the nozzle, where it is atomized by the steam, so that its combustion is complete.
The nozzle, together with the two pipes 9' and r, can be turned in the swivel-joint 29.
To start the apparatus working, some oil is placed in the pan t and lighted with woodshavings or a piece of paper, when water has been admitted into the coil-pipe a. After little time steam will be evolved and will fill the steam -collector 7c. The water condensing within the steam-collector is let out by the cock Z, and as soon as dry steam is procured the valve 0 is opened and the valve of the atomizer 0. Finally, the oil-inlet valve in the pipe 6 is opened, and by means of this valve and the ventilator f the entry of the fuel and air is regulated. The fuel lights at the flame burning in the pan 2,. and the result is a smokeless dazzling white flame, which keeps up the generation of steam in the coil-pipe a.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
In a furnace the combination of the firechamber, a' steam-generator therein, a steamcollector communicating with the generator and located outside the chamber, a fuel-inlet, a conical deflector within the chamber around said fuel-inlet, air-inlets around the fuel-inlet; with an-oil-pipe and a steam-pipe rotatably mounted upon a common support, an atomizing-nozzle connected to the free ends of said pipes and adapted to be introduced into said fuel-inlet, a valved oil-supply pipe communi eating with the oil feed-pipe through said support, and a valved steam-supply pipe cohnected with said collector and communicating with said steam-feed pipe through said support, all substantially as and for the purpose described.
