Abstract
23,685. Pfeiffer, H. Nov. 5. [Patent of Additicn to No. 18,164, A.D. 1908.] No Patent granted (Sealingfee not paid). Tyres, pneumatic. -A flat spring- metal hoop a is enclosed in a continuous or discontinuous sheath c of segment or crescent shape in crosssection, which has a canvas base and a rubber or like outer part c', and is circumferentiallysplit at the base or the outer part c<1> to allow the hoop to be inserted in a recess near to its base. The sheath is placed between the air-tube and the tyre cover. The metal hoop may have beaded edges a'. When the sheath is split at the base. the edges of the division overlap, and, when the sheath is discontinuous, the meeting ends may form a butt joint or a scarf joint, as shown in Fig. 7. The ends of the metal hoop may be connected by a flat sleeve b having a central partition b<1>, Fig. 7, or by studs on one end engaging in slots in the other end, or one end may be formed with turned-over edges to form a guide for the other end. According to the Provisional Specification, the sheath and hoop may be made in two or more sections.
