Moulds, type.-Relates to the formation of the break or tang of the type in such a manner that the break may be easily broken off at a point within the groove which is formed in the foot of the type. The mould consists of upper and lower mould-blocks 1, 2 and breakparts 3 to which are secured break-slips in the form of plates 6, 7 having curved edges 8, Fig. 2, which enter a corresponding groove in the mould. The edges 9, 12, Fig. 3, of the break-slips are curved towards each other at the point where the metal enters the mould, and are grooved to form a slot 13, Figs. 1 and 2, of elliptical form through which the metal passes.
