Abstract
21,515. Harrison, S. C. Oct. 12. Rings.-Tubular metal rings for curtain poles &c. are provided with an internal annular stay or stiffening-plate. In one form, the stay consists of a plain annular disk arranged in the central plane of the ring. When the ring is made of two sheetmetal stampings a, b, Fig. 6, the disk c is first placed in a seating or recess a<1> formed on one part a, the other part b and disk being then secured by bending over the edge a<2> of the first part. The stiffening-plate may be provided with stamped-up flanges so as to give support in more than one direction, or it may be bent to a cruciform section as shown in Fig. 9. When the ring is made from a single annular piece of metal shaped to form a seamed tube, the stiffening-plate is enclosed in the tube during the bending process.
