28,619. Bache, S., [trading as Bache & Son, W. & T.]. Dec. 15. Brackets. - Self - supporting &c. metal brackets are made by suitably bending sheet-metal blanks, cut from one piece and shaped so as to waste as little material as possible. In one form, the blank shown in Fig. 4 is bent along the dotted lines by means of press tools worked in a stamp or press, or by any other means, so as to form the horizontal and vertical flanges 1, 2, respectively, the main portion 5 forming the vertical web. The adjacent ends 8, 9, of the flange portions 1, 2 are curved to the same radius as the inner edge 7 of the web 5, so that when several blanks are placed together, as shown in Fig. 5, very little material is left between them. The edge of the web portion 5 may be a right-angle, Fig. 7, the end portion 11 of one flange being bent at right-angles to that flange so as to overlap the other flange, as shown in Fig. 8. The web 5 may be formed with an inclined stay 14, Fig. 8, or the edge 17 of the web may be wired, and strengthening-ribs 16, Fig. 8, and 18, Fig. 1, may be provided. The horizontal portion of the web may be shaped so as to form a hook, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1.
