Rock drills.-Relates to percussive rock drills of the type in which the percussion machine is adapted to enter the hole made by a short tool, and consists in employing an air-actuated machine. Means for feeding the tool and the machine into the hole are provided. Air, admitted at u to a cylinder s, acts on the piston r to feed the percussion machine a and the tool h into the hole. Air also passes through the feed-piston rod w, passages o, and an annular port p, to act on a shoulder c of the hammer piston d and move it backwards, then passing through a port f to return the piston. The exhaust passes through the tool h and passages k to remove dÚbris. A crank z and a rod 4 are used to rotate the drill cylinder and tool. The tool is held loosely by a set-screw l. Lengthening-pieces y may be used.
