Relates to razors of the type in which the handle 10, Fig. 1, is made integral with the blade support 12 and extends from one edge thereof, the razor blade being secured by a swinging member 18, and comprises forms of lather retainer and handle and special means for securing the blade. In one construction the lather retainer 14 is formed from the same piece of metal as the handle and blade support and is supported between side arms 11. The terminal portion of the handle is flat, and a tubular gripping-portion 13 is provided. The swinging clamping-plate 18 has a bent lug 19 extending through an aperture in the support and a catch 20 by which it is secured to the support 12. In a modification, shown in Figs. 6 and 7, the guard and a lather retainer are formed from a separate piece of metal and are adjustably fixed to a central arm 42 projecting from the handle 30 and bent to form a cylindrical sleeve 43, which receives an internally screwed boss 44 on the back of the guard 40 and lather retainer 41. The boss is engaged by a screw 45 having a flange 46 and a head 47, which prevents longitudinal movement of the screw but allows the guard to be adjusted with respect to the blade edge. When the screw is disengaged from the boss 44, it may be removed through an opening 48 in the arm 42. The blade 35 and the clamping-member 36 are formed with longitudinal slots which are engaged by a rib 34 on the support. The clamping-member is hinged and is secured by a catch 38 ; it also has a downturned flange 37, which conceals the rear edge of the blade. In a modified form of handle (not shown), the handle is not bifurcated, and portions of the edges of greater length than in the construction shown in Fig. 1 are flanged over to form a tubular gripping portion.
