Abstract

15,181. Dagnall, W. July 17. Composition fuel. -Wood, paper, cardboard, leather board, straw, bay, esparto-grass, sawdust, wood shavings, wood-chips, or any woody fibre, either singly or in a mixture, is converted into pulp and mixed with an inflammable compound consisting of 2 lb. resin, 2 oz. paraffin scale or wax, 1 drachm naphthalene, and 2 lb paraffin or mineral oil. The composition is formed into blocks or strips for use as fire-lighters. The fibre pulp alone may be made into the desired forms and dried, and then impregnated with the inflammable compound. According to the Provisional Specification pitch, tar or vegetable or animal stearine may be employed instead of resin ; petrol, resin spirit, or fish, mineral, or vegetable oils instead of paraffin oil ; and vegetable, mineral or animal waxes, tallow, grease, or oil refuse, instead of paraffin wax.
