Abstract

13,712. Lambie, A. June 29. Frames and framing; beams.-Longitudinal deck beams L are fitted to each deck, and are supported by deep transverse beams H. The bottom of the vessel is also framed longitudinally, and the transverse frames are constructed with every third frame or thereabouts of greater sectional area, these frames being secured to the decks B, C, D with bracket knee pieces. The deep transverse beams are fitted about every sixth frame space, the lower angle-bars of the lower deck beams being carried round the frames to form reverse bars J. In the way of the hatch openings, diagonal deck beams are arranged between the deep transverse beams.
