Abstract

Direct air - pressure apparatus.-In direct airpressure apparatus of the double chambered type, the chambers are provided with separate air-admission valves and a common air-exhaust valve so that, in the event of either chamber filling with liquid before the other is empty, compressed air may be admitted to both chambers simultaneously, whereas exhaust can only take place from a single chamber. Thecompressed air is admitted to the chambers a, a' from a pipe x by means of valves b, b<1> controlled by compressed air acting on the pistons c, c<1>. The cylinders d, d' in which these pistons work are connected by pipes 5, 5<a> to valve casings 1, 1<a> in which work valves f, f<1>, operated by floats in the chambers and serving to connect the pipes 5, 5<a> either to the compressed air supply or to the atmosphere. The exhaust from the chambers takes place through the passages s, s', only one of which can be open to the Exhaust pipe r at one time. The valve m, m<1> controlling the exhaust is operated by air pressure in the manner shown, and can be fixed in one position by means of the screws 14, 14<a> when it is desired to use a single chamber only.
