Abstract

12,541. Parkinson, C. F. June 11. Fastenings, railway-carriage door.-A rod a', actuated by the vacuum or pressure brakes, is pivoted to a lever a secured to the centre of a spindle A, which passes under the carriage and carries at its ends levers a' pivoted to rods a<4> which run the whole length of the carriage and actuate the levers B of the locks shown in detail in Fig. 3. Each lock contains a spring-pressed bolt B<3> carried in the bearings b<1>, b<2>, of the lock casing and provided with a stop to limit its outward movement when shot by the spring B<4>. The head B' of the lever B works in a slot B<6> of the bolt B<3>, which slot is of sufficient length to allow the bolt to be pressed back when the door is closed. The bolts are withdrawn by the levers B when the rods a<4> are moved in the direction of the arrow through the application of the brakes. [Reference has been directed under Section 7 of Patents &c.
