Abstract
8774. Ghislain, F. C. April 22. Fire - bricks for fluesforcoke-ovens, furnaces, &c. The first a n d second courses of brickwork are built of ribbed bricks, Figs. 1 and 2, and the courses above are formed alternately of bricks shaped as shown in Figs. 3 a n d 4 respectively. Vertical ribs on one side of a brick engage corresponding grooves in an adjacent brick, and, as shown in Fig. 7, the bricks are arranged in ordinary cross-bond and are fitted with refractory tubes p. The bricks may be formed of neutral refractory materials containing Al2 O3, and a small percentage of iron, lime, and alkalies combined. Specifications No. 791, A.D. 1860, No. 6050, A.D. 1882, [Abridgment Class Iron &c.], No. 8106, A.D. 1896, and No. 26,594, A.D. 1907, are referred to.
