Abstract

8084. Boult, A. J, [Goldman & Co., E.]. April 11. Lift valves; actuating valves and cocks. - In apparatus for pasteurizing bottled beer &c. the steam valve A of the jet-pump heater, shown in Fig. 2, is automatically operated by air pressure acting on the spring-supported diaphragm 110, the air pressure being supplied by an auxiliary valve 123, Fig. 4, controlled. from a thermostatic tube 127, Fig. 3, containing alcohol &c., which by expansion under a diaphragm 115, Fig. 4, in a casing 111, actuates the valve 123, through a lever 117. The steam valve A is provided with a bypass, as shown in Fig. 2, so that some steam always passes. Adjustment of the thermostat is effected by means of a pointer 119, Fig. 4, screwing into the lever 117.
