Tyres, non-elastic.-The tyres of railway and tramway wheels are prevented from creeping by plates or bars which extend radially through registering recesses in the faces of the wheel body and tyre. As applied to a wheel of the kind described in Specification No. 15,169, A.D. 1885, [Abridgment Class Railway &c. vehicles], registering dovetail recesses f, g are made in the projecting peripheral bead on the body of the wheel and in the side of the tyre, and receive plates or bars h secured by bolts e which hold the tyre-retaining ring d. In the same manner, the device may be applied to a tyre held on a wooden wheel body by two Mansell rings. The plates h may be disposed on one or both sides of the wheel, and any number may be used.
