Incandescent gas and oil lamps. - To support a mantle in the event of breakage and to prevent oscillation of the mantle, a conical sleeve or ferrule a of stamped metal is attached to the burner, the sleeve being formed with slots a<2> so as to grip the burner in a manner which permits of vertical adjustment. The sleeve a is formed with a lip a<1> to support the lowered edge of the mantle. The lip a<1> may be formed by turning up the lower edge of the sleeve in parts only.
