Abstract
2855. Jost, C. Feb. 8. Fans.-Relates to an arrangement for maintaining the tension of a driving - cord, in which disconnexion of the driven part is brought about by slackening the cord. As used for driving a ceiling fan, two pulleys 4, 6 run on fixed axles, and an intermediate pulley 5 is arranged to slide in a slot 7, its position being controlled by weights 8 and a cord 11. Guides are provided to prevent displacement of the belt when slackened. Several fans may be driven from one main driving-rope which passes over a series of pulleys, to each of which is connected a second pulley driving a fan through a cord which is tightened or slackened as described above.
