Abstract

24,865. Morris, F. W., Raine, J. B., Kerr, J., and McLachlan, C. Nov. 9. Hydrogen.-Sodium or potassium formate solution is electrolyzed between lead electrodes in a divided cell which may be of the Castner-Kellner type having a partition dipping into a mercury seal. Formic acid is produced at the anode, and attacks the anode, forming lead formate. Hydrogen and alkali are produced at the cathode.
