Abstract

24,769. Wolhaupter, B. Nov. 8, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901 ]. Rail joints.-In insulated rail joints with wooden filling-blocks, each fish-plate is integral with a baseplate supporting one rail end and insulated from the other fish-plate having abase-plate supporting the other rail end. The filling-block 6 shown in Fig. 1 has an extension fitting between the edges of the opposite base parts, and an insulating end' post 15 has a base extension fitting between the transverse edges of the base-plates. The fish-bolts are insulated by bushings 18 held in place by metal tension straps 20, and the straps are insulated by pieces 22. The fish-plates may be inclined, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, tightening of the fish-bolts thus tending to lift the fish-plates ; and for a surface for the bolt head and nut, insulating- washers 36 may be provided as shown in Fig. 4, or the plate may be thickened as shown in Fig. 5. An insulating-strip 33 or 41 may be provided between each base-plate, and the base-plate may be strengthened by downward projections 39 between the sleepers as in Fig. 7, which shows also plain bushing-pieces 42.
