Abstract
24,736. Bond, W., Baxendale, J., and Bond, J. T. Nov. 8. Loom picking-sticks for underpick apparatus have the parts most liable to break made entirely or mainly of metal ; the tip or part engaging the picker is made of wood as usual, and is removable. The picking-stick, Figs. 1 and 2, has a channelled metallic p a r t A, preferably of stamped sheet metal, to which the wooden tip B is attached by screws ; or the channel may be filled with wood C shaped at C' to engage with the correspondingly-s h a p e d part B<1> of the tip, which is secured to the metallic part by means of a cap D and screws and nuts E, E<1>. The stick is attached to the rocking sockets by means of a screw passed through a hole F. In a modification, Fig. 5, the lower part A is made entirely of metal, preferably cast aluminium, which may be channelled for lightness. The tip may fit into a hole in the metallic part and be secured by screws ; or it may fit into a slot and be secured by a cap similar to the cap D, Figs. 1 and 2 ; or the bottom of the tip and the socket in the part A may have interengaging surfaces.
