Abstract
22,841. Williams, A. A. V. Oct. 16. Repairing, facilitating.-A device for closing the supply pipe when the main valve is removed comprises a socket a in which the tail of the valve is screwed and is provided with a seating e adapted to be brought into contact with a fixed valve j, which has ports k and is secured to the supply pipe d. Any suitable means may be employed for limiting the rotation of the connecting - piece, and its exterior may be shaped to receive a spanner. The Provisional Specification describes a modification in which a tap spigot screws into the valve and the valve screws into the socket, a locking-washer being interposed between the tap and the valve. When the tap is screwed up, the washer eventually couples the tap with the valve which will, by further turning of the tap, be unscrewed to open.
