Abstract
20,309. Norton, H. J. Sept. 11. Preserving fruit.-A rack for crystallizing fruit comprises two triangular frames a connected by tie-rods b and a girder c, and carrying between them a series of shelves d of wood or galvanized steel, mounted between end sections e of cast iron which are pivotally connected to the frames a. The shelves d have stops d<1>, and are pivotally connected to a rod f connected to a lever g which is operated by a screwed rod h. This rod passes through fixed bracketsj and is raised by a nut or hand-wheel k to move the end of the lever g, thus tilting the crystallizing-pans on the shelves d. When a rod f is provided at each end of the shelves d, the levers g are connected by a link so that the movement is imparted to both.
