Abstract

19,957. Bode, A., and Bottcher, K. Sept. 6. Cranes.-In a system of highlevel cranes, especially adapted for use in ship-building yards, of the kind in which two or more series of cranes are arranged one above the other upon tracks carried by longitudinal frames, one or more of the series of cranes is capable of rotation through an angle of 360 degrees. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, vertical pillars a, connected by transverse girders b, carry tracks d for an overhead travelling crane c and tracks e, f for two or more travelling jib cranes g, adapted to rotate through 360 degrees between the pillars a. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, in which both series of cranes are capable of rotating through 360 degrees, the transverse girders are dispensed with and the rails i for the upper series of cranes, which are preferably of cantilever form, are arranged directly upon the pillars a. The cranes of one frame are arranged slightly higher than those of the adjacent frame in order that they may pass when at right-angles to the axis of the slipway. The cranes g run in recesses k in the pillars a.
