Abstract
17,933. Dibben, G. Aug. 7. Spanners and wrenches.-Relates to spanners of the type in which the nut-receiving opening can be adapted for nuts of different sizes by the insertion of lining pieces. The body portion a of the spanner shown in Fig. 1 has its ends a' formed with angular recesses a' to engage nuts, and its sides provided either with tapped openings b to receive the screwed ends c<1> of arms c, or with plain holes through which a single bar may be passed, d showing one of a number of interchangeable socket pieces fixed in the head a' by a screw a<3> passing through a hole in the part a<2>. The axle wrench shown in Fig. 4 has a number of liners e<2> each provided with a tapped hole so that a number of them may be secured one within the other in the head by a screw e<3> sufficiently long to pass through the maximum number required, by which means the spanner can be used for a greater number of sizes of nuts. It is also stated that the socket pieces are useful in connexion with braces.
