Cleats or holders.-In a pulley for hoisting purp o s e s, the supporting bracket 1 is provided with a shoulder or shoulders 1<b> and nearly circular cheeks 1<c>. One or both flanges of the pulley wheel are deeply indented to form fingers 3<a>, so that the lifting rope or cord may be drawn sideways and pinched between the shoulder and the finger 3<a>, thus retaining the load in position.
