L o o m change-box mot i o n s ; shuttle - changing mechanism-In order to change a shuttle or substitute a full shuttle for an empty shuttle in a drop-box, additional cells 11,12,Fig. 1,for the spare shuttle and the empty one respectively a r e placed above and below the usual cells 10. A cam 19, on a wheel driven by gearing 15, 17 from the crankshaft, operates lever mechanism 27, 29, 30, and thus raises and lowers the shuttle-box carrying-rod 9 and, by lever mechanism 20, 22, 23 and chains 25, raises and lowers the opposite box - carrying rod. The spare shuttle is placed by hand in the cell 11 ; when the shuttle is to be changed, the weaver depresses a lever 36 against spring action. A notched projection 39<1> on a spring-actuated three-armed lever 39 on the lever 36 then comes beneath a stop 40', and keeps the lever 36 depressed. A downwardly-extending projection or arm 36<3> depresses a spring-pressed sliding bar 43, which is held between projections on oppositely - extending arms of a mutilated gear 35, Fig. 3. and the lower end 43<1> of the bar is placed in the path of one of two knobs or projections 47 on the wheel which carries the cam 19. The bar 43 and wheel 35 are thereby turned until the teeth of the wheel 35 come into position to be actuated by the wheel 15, by which the rotation of the wheel 35 is completed. A cam 34 secured to the wheel 35 then actuates a lever 32, and by means of a connexion 31, the rod 9 is actuated to place first the cell 12 on a line with the race-way and afterwards the cell 11. As the wheel 35 rotates, one of the guiding-projections engages the downwardly-extending arm of the lever 39 and releases the notched extension 39' to allow the lever 36 to return to normal position. The horizontal arm of the lever 39 extends into the path of the bar 43 and checks the rotation of the wheel 35.
