13,367. Vickers, B. T. June 10. Stuffing-boxes.-The gland of a stuffing-box is packed both internally and externally, preferably by means of packing of the cup-leather type. Grooves for cup-leather packing may be cut neither in the gland as shown in Fig. 2, or in the stuffing- box, and the cup-leathers may be arranged to make a joint in both directions as shown. Flexible rings E, E, Figs. 4 and 5, may be secured by means of detachable parts of the gland. Fig. 6 shows a gland with double cup-leathers. According to the Provisional Specification, two glands may be used, one being bored to constitute an auxiliary stuffing- box for the other.
