Abstract

12,728. Slaght, L. H. June 1. Ironing-machines.-In an ironing-machine of the type in which the goods are passed between rollers and heated beds and then drawn along the under surfaces of the beds by an apron, two sets of rollers and beds are arranged one above the other, so that each side of an article, which passes from one set to the other, is ironed twice. A modified feeding-arrangement is also described. As shown in Fig. 3, the two sets of rollers 5, 6, suitably driven, are mounted between end frames which may be in sections for varying the size of the machine. The articles, fed in by the band 23, pass between the rollers 5 and their beds to the opposite end whence they are carried under the beds by the endless apron 16. They then fall upon another apron 19 and are carried through the space between the two sets to the lower set. A shield 21 guides them to the lower rollers and beds, after traversing which they are carried under the heated beds 4 to the delivery side of the machine. For feeding the machine, two aprons are employed driven at different speeds, the slower one 25, Fig; 2, passing the goods to the feeding-in band 23 which travels at the same rate as the peripheries of the rollers and as the aprons 16, 19. For lifting the rollers from their beds, adjustable rods 31 connected to the roller axles are raised by eccentrics 32 mounted upon duplicated shafts 33.
