Abstract
10,184. Incandescent Heat Co., and Smallwood, A. May 2. Steam-generator furnaces ; combustion chambers ; heat-storing fittings in flues.-A fire-brick arch A is fitted in the flue of a Lancashire or like boiler furnace to form an inner combustion chamber B and shallow outer flues C, D, the arch being metalcased like the similar device described in Specification No. 18,878, A.D. 1905. The products of combustion from the furnace pass through the chamber B, back along the flue C, and out through the flue D. The flues C, D are separated, except for a short distance at the furnace end, by a partition d' held in position by flanges on the metal casing of the arch. The latter is formed in halves supported on a fire-brick base-plate b<1>, and apertures ax are provided to allow of communication between the chamber B and the flues C, D. According to the Provisional Specification, the arch may be supported on brackets and secured in position by wedges.
