Abstract
9359. Flather, R. B. April 21, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Incandescent lamps.-In apparatus for heating glass tubes, especially in the manufacture of electric lamps, an annular table B having two concentric circular grooves B<1>, B<2> on its under surface is held in contact with a fixed annular table A by a spring- pressed ring D' engaging the underside of the table A. The table B is rotated from a shaft C<3> by toothed gearing C, B<5>. The grooves B<1>, B<2> are supplied with air and gas respectively by pipes A', A<2>, and blowpipes B<4> mounted on the table B are kept continuously supplied from the grooves B', B'. The tube to be heated is placed in a clip F<1>, attached to a sleeve F<11>, which may be raised or lowered by a hand-lever F<2>. The lamp bulb into which the tube is to be sealed is held against a horseshoe rest E', which may be fitted with air jets to cool the bulb.
