Abstract

6638. Kesselring, W. March 19. Latches combined with flusbing-apparatus for closets. On the door being opened irom within, the ends of a lever o and slide h strike the head t, causing a water valve u to open and start the siphon. The hub c of the inside handle has two horns g, k, the upper of which actuates the ordinary latch b. In opening the door from the inside, the horn g moves to the left against the action of a spring m a plate l to which is pivoted at n the notched lever o. The lever o normally engages a slide h at q, so that, on the handle being turned, both contact with the head and open the valve. If the inside handle is held in turned position, in closing the door the slide h is released by the raising of the lever o by a chamfer z at the end of a groove y in the head t.
