Breech actions, drop-down barrel. -Relates to guns in which the main springs are compressed, as the gun is closed, by means of a pivoted lever actuated by the barrel, and consists in shaping and arranging the part of the barrel 'against which the lever presses when the gun is fully closed so that there is no upward spring pressure on the barrel. In the example illustrated the part 27<a>, against which the end of the lever 23 for compressing the main spring rests, is formed circular to the centre of the body joint. Other arrangements of lever and lump functioning in the same manner are described.
