Screw unions.-A coupling for lead and like pipes comprises a thimble with conical ends i each provided with circumferential grooves 10, 15, the raised portions between the grooves being serrated. One groove 15 holds a gasket k. To make the joint, nuts c, f are passed over the ends of the pipes, these ends are then flared, and the thimble placed in position ; the nuts e, f are then screwed on to the thimble and tightly grip the pipes. The joint may be used for single insteal of double connexions.
