Elastic-fluid turbines.- Relates to turbines of the type in which the blades of the rotor are pivoted thereto, so that their angle can be reversed for the purpose of reversing the the direction of running. The turbine is of the one wheel per stage type, the casing a, Fig. 1, being divided by partitions h<1> into compartments t, each of which contains a wheel d. Each partition contains two oppositely-arranged sets of guide-blades i, Fig. 3, adapted for forward and reversed running respectively. A reversing slide valve l is operated by worm-gearing &c. o engaging a peripherally toothed ring m and is adapted to open either set of guide-blades and to close the other set. The blades c have bifurcations g at their admission end adapted, when the valves are reversed, to receive the impact of the steam jets and cause the blades to swing over on their pivots e. The blades rest against stops f, and the curvature of the blades and the arrangement of the stops maybe varied to vary the effect of the steam on the blades. The blades are fixed to the wheels of pivots e, e<1>, Fig. 4, the upper pivots e being inserted in notches p<1> in the shrouding ring p and being secured by a strip &c. s, the lower pivots fit in sockets q<1> formed partly in the wheel d and partly in a securing-ring r fixed to the wheel.
