Abstract
105,370. Baumann, K. April 5, 1916. Nozzles. - Nozzle-boxes for axial-flow steam turbines are constructed so that they may be inserted endways into the turbine casing in a substantially tangential direction relativelv to the moving blades through comparatively small openings in the side of the turbine casing. in one construction having three nozzle boxes 1, each nozzle box consists of a tapering curved tube closed at its smaller end 2 and provided at its other end with a flange 3, by which it is secured to the casing. Lugs 10, 11 on the nozzle box have tongues engaging grooves in lugs 14, 15 on the casing. The boxes may be straight instead of curved, and in cross-section may be of circular, elliptic, or other shape. The guide-blades of the nozzle box may be secured between flange portions 7, 8, Fig. 4.
