Abstract

Lighting, systems of.-Mercury-vapour and like lamps; connected in series are arranged so as to light up in succession when the current is switched on, the lighting of each being controlled by that-of - the next preceding one. For this purpose, there may be connected in series with each lamp, except the last, an electro-magnet, the armature of which short-circuits the next lamp until the former lamp comes into action.
